This film tells about the vile anti-Soviet activities of ministers of the Catholic Church and Ukrainian nationalists in Western Ukraine, how the church and nationalist scum corrupt the souls of young people, how, hiding behind the name of God and the word of God, they sell and betray the Motherland. This excited, fervent work in defense of light and truth, against the darkness of ignorance and lies, against religious stupor and human meanness, is built in the genre of a socially saturated and psychologically acute drama.

The film is based on true events, on documents that fell into the hands of Soviet organizations after the defeat of Nazi Germany. The authors told in it about a real person — the Uniate Metropolitan Count Andrei Sheptytsky. An obese, gray-bearded elder, an experienced schemer, a cunning and insidious fox, for about half a century he deftly controlled the misanthropic Catholic machine. It was he who solemnly blessed the banners of the fascist divisions going to the Eastern Front, it was he, the "son of God," who approved and encouraged the mass executions of Soviet people by the Nazis.

1944. A funeral procession is moving through the streets of Lviv, which has just been liberated by the Soviet Army. The black hearse is followed by canons, vicars, protopresbyters, and nuns...

— Who is being buried? — a voice is heard.

And in response to the painful, hard—suffering, blood-soaked words: - The murderer is being buried!..

A murderer? Who is he, the murderer? Metropolitan, Count Sheptytsky! And who owns the words "the murderer is being buried!"? To an old, exhausted, sickly-looking man, a former Catholic priest, Father Theodosius.

But the picture takes us back a few years. 1940, Metropolitan Sheptytsky, showered with honors, sits in his palace. Despite his age, tired, tired appearance, Sheptytsky is full of energy. He is preoccupied with one thought: how to expand the "flock of Christ", how to undermine the growing trust and love of the people of Western Ukraine for the Soviet government? This is a strong and insidious enemy. The artist of the Poltava Drama Theater D. Stepova creates an image that is truthful and deeply realistic, full of great social sound. Behind the outward senile kindness, behind the "holy" detachment from this world, one can guess an undeniably intelligent, but ruthless and evil man, with the iron grip of a predatory beast.

Among those who unconditionally believe the metropolitan, who are blindly ready to obey him in everything, for whom Count Sheptytsky is a moral model, is a modest rural priest, Father Theodosius Stavnichy. In the same reverence for the metropolitan, he raised his only daughter Ivanna. Melbet offers a welcome bonus from 100% up to a huge 200% to new players who want to test out the bookmaker's services.
